Diode battery isolators allow simultaneous charging of two or more batteries from one alternator, without connecting the batteries together. Discharging the accessory battery for example will not result in also discharging the starter battery.
The Argo Battery Isolators feature a low voltage drop thanks to the use of Schottky diodes: at low current the voltage drop is approximately 0,3 V and at the rated output approximately 0,45 V.
All models are fitted with a compensation diode that can be used to slightly increase the output voltage of the alternator. This compensates for the voltage drop over the diodes in the isolator.
Simply inserting the isolator in the cabling between the alternator and the batteries will slightly reduce charge voltage. The result can be that batteries are not charged to the full 100% and age prematurely.
Some alternators need DC voltage on the B+ output to start charging. Obviously, DC will be present when the alternator is directly connected to a battery. Inserting a Diode or FET splitter will however prevent any return voltage/current from the batteries to the B+, and the alternator will not start.
The new ‘AC’ diode isolators feature a special current limited energize input that will power the B+ when the engine run/stop switch is closed.
Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT Solar Chargers.
With voltage and temperature sense in place, batteries will be better charged; improving charging-efficiency and prolonging battery life.
By measuring voltage at the battery bank terminals, errors arising from voltage-loss due to cable resistance are avoided – guaranteeing the correct charge-voltage.
For lead batteries, battery temperature data is used to adjust the charge-voltages: cold batteries require an increased charge-voltage, whereas hot batteries require a decreased charge-voltage. For lithium batteries temperature data is used to disable charging when they are too cold: charging lithium batteries near or below freezing causes permanent damage to the cells.
The connection between Smart Battery Sense and one or more Solar Charger(s) is wireless: It uses VE.Smart Network – a wireless technology based on Bluetooth Smart.
Information transmitted can be used simultaneously by one, two or more Solar Chargers connected to the same 12V, 24V and 48V battery bank. The Smart Network is set up using the VictronConnect app.
Installation is simple, quick and tidy. Just connect the unit’s two eyelets to your battery terminals and attach the Smart Battery Sense unit directly onto the battery-body using its self-adhesive strip.
Using the VE.Direct to Bluetooth Smart dongle you can display your BMV or MPPT information on iOS and Android devices, using the VictronConnect app. View information wirelessly such as battery status and solar panel power, plus other useful data.
The dongle is able to read data from all products with a VE.Direct port, such as the BMV-70x series battery monitors, Phoenix Inverters with VE.Direct port, MPPT Solar Charge Controllers.
The BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non essential loads before it is completely discharged (which would damage the battery) or before it has insufficient power left to crank the engine.

The BatteryProtect can be set to engage / disengage at several different voltages.
The seven segment display will indicate which setting has been chosen.
In this mode the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS.
Note: the BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge interrupter in between a battery charger and a Li-ion
battery. See connection diagram in the manual.
This is important in case of Li-ion batteries, especially after low voltage shutdown.

To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to over voltage, the load is disconnected whenever the DC voltage exceeds 16V respectively 32V.
No relays but MOSFET switches, and therefore no sparks.
The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level during more than 12 seconds. Starting the engine will therefore not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short circuit proof open collector output to the negative (minus) rail, max. current 50 mA. The alarm output is typically used to activate a buzzer, LED or relay.
The load will be disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm has been activated. If the battery voltage increases again to the connect threshold within this time period (after the engine has been started for example), the load will not be disconnected.
The load will be reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has increased to more than the preset reconnect voltage.
Diode Battery Combiners are used to guarantee continuous DC power to mission critical equipment, such as an electronic engine control system. With a diode battery combiner two or more DC power sources can be used in parallel to supply the mission critical load. Failure of one source will not interrupt power to the critical load.

Combinatorul de baterii Cyrix este un releu foarte rezistent controlat printr-un microprocesor, care conectează în mod automat bateriile în paralel, atunci când una dintre ele a atins nivelul de tensiune prestabilit (ceea ce indică faptul că bateria este încărcată) şi se deconectează atunci când tensiunea bateriei este sub nivelul fixat (ceea ce indică faptul că una sau mai multe baterii sunt descărcate). Combinatorii de baterii Cyrix reprezintă un excelent substitut pentru izolatorii cu diode. Principala caracteristică este aceea că, practic, nu există vreo cădere de tensiune, astfel încât tensiunea furnizată de alternator sau de încărcătorul de baterii nu trebuie să fie mai mare.
